Modern dünyanın zamana karşı kayıtsızlığı, zaman karşısında insanları bir çıkmazın içine sürüklemesi yeni arayışları, yeni çıkış yollarını da beraberinde getirmiştir. Zamanın yetmediği, adeta zaman içinde zaman yaratmaya çalıştığımız bir dünyada karmaşa ve hengâmenin içerisinde varmak istediğimiz yere hızlı ve zamanında ulaşmanın kestirmeleri… Metrolar…

Modern şehir insanının, neredeyse tamamının geçiş noktası, uğrağı ve en nihayetinde gitmek istediğimiz yere hızlı ve zamanında ulaşma çabasına vasıta ettiğimiz yerlerdir. Ve buna bağlı olarak mekanik olduğu kadar nerdeyse insanların varlığıyla organik bir yapıya bürünmüş ve kültürün bir parçası oluvermiş, şehrin gotikleridir metrolar… Günümüz yaşamı, içine sinen karmaşayı somut haliyle görebildiğimiz yerler olduğu kadar müzisyenleriyle karmaşanın içerisindeki ahenkli dansı bize fark edebildiğimiz tonlarıyla hissettirir. Metro, zamanın telleri arasında ürkütücü raksını gerçekleştirirken, müzisyenler de kimi zaman bağlamanın, gitarın, santurun tellerinde, kimi zaman saksafonun, kavalın ses boğumlarında bu ürkütücü havayı kırmaktadır. Müzisyenleri duyduğumuz esnadaki yürüyüşümüz bir ahenge bürünmektedir adeta. Bu noktadan hareketle çektiğimiz fotoğraflar, kültürün bir ayağı olduğunu düşündüğümüz metroların dünyanın büyük şehirlerinde olduğu gibi İstanbul’da da kültürün bir menşei olduğunun belgesidir.

 

 

Modern world’s complacency of the time and its drift into a dead end brought people a new kind of search and truth-seeking.In a world where the time is never enough and there is always a need to recreate time within time, the easiest path to get us to places we want in this complex and chaotic world would be – Subways…

In the rise of Modern City, It’s the one crossing point people actually use in order to get to different places in a fast and quick way on time. As mechanic as it may seem, it is formed into an organic being within the existence of people and became a part of the culture. The subway is now the new goth city.

Though one can see the complexity of today’s life within its concrete aspects, life itself makes us see the harmonic dance inside this complexity with its great musicians. While Subway among the strings of time makes its dreadful dance in the dancing hall, the real musicians reduce its tragic effect with the chords of their guitar, baglama,dulcimer,saxophone and pipe… Our walk changes its steps once we hear their charming music. The photographs that I took in this aspect indicate that subways are of an essential column of the global culture which is no expection when it comes to the subways of Istanbul..
